Carolina Select Soccer Club congratulates the following teams and players on their success!

Carolina Select Boys 90 Elite

U-18 ELITE GOES 2-1 AND MISSES THE FINAL BY 1 POINT IN THE U-19 PREMIER DIVISION AT THE SAVANNAH SENIOR COLLEGE CUP

The young men had an excellent weekend that saw every different type of weather possible in 3 games. On Saturday morning Game 1 was warm. Goals from Jeff Antinoro and Gerardo Salazar (2) led to a 3-1 victory over Blount United Starz from Gatlinburg, TN. Game 2 on Saturday afternoon saw a major change in weather. It rained all afternoon and the temperature started to drop. This made for a sloppy field and chilly conditions. We gave up 1 goal in the first 10 minutes and proceeded to dominate play for the rest of the game. This 1-0 loss to the U-19 Rovers, would mark their only loss for the weekend. The boys played hard and dealt well with two injuries and some controversy. Overnight the rain stopped but the temperature continued to drop and Game 3 at 8:00am Sunday morning was cold. A 2-1 victory over the 90 Coast FA Force with goals from Riley Johnston and David Robinson put the boys in position to advance to the final if the U-19 Rovers lost or tied their game later that morning. Unfortunately the Rovers won.

The boys represented our club well and were clearly one of the best teams present at this tournament. Considering this team is made up of players ranging from true U-16's to U-18's and that they played in the U-19 Premier Division it speaks well of their skill and team play.

The team is coach by Khrys Dundr and is preparing for the South Carolina State Cup on December 6th.

Carolina Select Boys 90 Gold

The Carolina Select 90 Boys Gold finished 3rd in the PMSL League U18 Classic II division with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses.  They also played in the U19 Gold Division in Savannah last weekend.  They won their bracket but lost in the semifinals to the Statesboro Strikers.   The team did a great job especially since most of the players are U17 players.   The players are now concentrating on conditioning for their respective upcoming Spring high school seasons!  The team is coached by Elton Ramey, who is also the club's Goalkeeper trainer.

Carolina Select Boys 92 Elite

The Carolina Select 92 Boys Elite played in the Premier Division in Savannah last weekend.  They won their first game 3 - 1 against Discoveries '92 Challenge.  Scoring for the team was JT Mula, Sergio Hurtado, and Kevin Ray.  Saturday night the boys suffered a tough 3-0 loss in continuous rain to the VSLC Lighting FC out of Georgia.   However, Carolina Select bounced back on Sunday morning with a convincing 8-2 win versus the '11 United Georgia team.   Scoring were J.T. Mula with 2 goals, Taylor Short, Corbin Payne, Kevin Ray, Jamal Simpson, Nathaniel Enos, and Sergio Hurtado.  Also of note here, Corbin Payne had 3 assists, along with J.T. Mula, Kevin Ray, and Josh Mercadel.

The team is coach by Ryan Morris and is preparing for the South Carolina State Cup on December 6th.

Carolina Select Boys 92 Gold

The Carolina Select 92 Gold team is a new developmental team comprised of several 14 and 15 year old players.   They played in the PMSL Classic II U16 division this season.  The players are now concentrating on conditioning for their respective upcoming Spring high school seasons!  The team is coached by Ryan Morris.

Carolina Select Boys 93 Elite

The Carolina Select 93 Elite boys won the championship in the top flight of the U-15 division of the Charlotte United FC United Cup over the weekend of November 15-16.  They won all four games by shutout and were led by keeper Carson King and a rugged defense spearheaded by Kevin Fielden, Reid Grayson, Jonathan Rowe, and Austin Schlirf.

The boys opened play with a 3-0 win over Charlotte United Gold and followed that up with a 6-0 victory against an overmatched Richmond Kickers team from Virginia.  In the semi-finals on Sunday the boys defeated CFC from Spartanburg 1-0, with Stephen Nall scoring the game winner and Conor Agnew notching the assist.  In the finals, the boys won a 1-0 battle against CUFC Green with Chris Gorospe getting the tournament winner.  John Watkins assisted on the goal.

The team is coached by Lou Pantuosco and is preparing for the South Carolina State Cup on December 6th.
